Photography Quotes

"Life is like a camera... Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't turn out – take another shot"

"One of the biggest mistakes a photographer can make is to look at the real world and cling to the vain hope that next time his film will somehow bear a closer resemblance to it...If we limit our vision to the real world, we will forever be fighting on the minus side of things, working only too make our photographs equal to what we see out there, but no better."
Galen Rowell

"Art is the only way to run away without leaving home."
Twyla Tharp

"Amateurs worry about equipment, professionals worry about money, masters worry about light, I just take pictures..."
Vernon Trent

"Photography, as we all know, is not real at all. It is an illusion of reality with which we create our own private world."
Arnold Newman

"Take nothing but pictures. Kill nothing but time. Leave nothing but footprints."
John Kay - "Nothing But"

Hello dear visitor,
welcome to my little page of photos. Take a look and if you have any questions, just ask. Feedback in the form of comments, critiques, faves or watches is most welcome!

I won't thank you for every single fave, although it's very appreciated. What I will do, though, is answer every comment, give back every llama and visit your gallery each time you interact with me in any way. It might take some time and you won't necessarily notice me, but I will take a look. Promise.

Thank you for stopping by!

Travel The World Vol. 4 - Namibia

Fri Oct 2, 2015, 1:25 AM

Travel The World Header by serel

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page."

St. Augustine of Hippo

The world offers so many breathtaking locations and places to see and not everyone is able to visit them in person. With this new feature series I invite you on a journey to discover and enjoy the beauty our planet offers. Let's travel the world!

Namibian Deserts, Namibia, Africa

Namibia, with its wide deserts and savannahs, offers several amazing places worth a visit. The Sossusvlei area - remnants of the Tsauchab river that is silting up about 50km from the Atlantic coast - is one of the dryest and oldest deserts of our planet.

Next to the dead trees in Deadvlei one can also find the highest sanddunes (up to 300m), which forms change constantly due to the wind.

The Namib borders directly upon the atlantic ocean. The Skeleton Coast owes its name to the many shipwrecks - agrounded due to fog, the heavy surge of waves and the unpredictable Benguela Current. But exactly these circumstances also form a little (underwater) paradise for seals and other aquatic animals.

The Etosha Nationalpark shows how different and alive a savannah can be as soon as there is a bit of water. The area is home to a plethora of wild animals and an ideal location for safaris.

Do you know a wonderful place you would like to share with others? Or are you dreaming of visiting a certain place? Tell me in a comment and we mind encounter it in a next issue.

On a side note: Even though a great aspect of travelling is to meet local people and watch wild animals I decided that this feature series will focus on the scenery. I will add a photo of an animal or person every once in a while, but the main focus will stay on the landscapes.

Street in Tuscany by rainyrose23

Welcome to another themed feature!

As a first goodbye to summer (or a little hello to spring?), here's a collection of street and architecture photography that remind me of a nice and relaxed summer day at the Mediterranean Sea. Are you up for a little walk around the village?

The last time I've seen a full scale lavender field is long ago, but I cherish those memories of happy family holidays in France. Each year I have lavender on my balcony because it's such a beautiful and aromatic flower.

Under-appreciated 11th June-24th JuneHello everyone
SkyAndNatureClub proudly presents a brand new feature for the under-appreciated artists! This time we want to honour the under-appreciated artworks, submitted from 11th to 24th June 2015.
There will be a new feature every week on wednesday alternating a themed feature and a feature for the under-appreciated artworks. To be featured, please make sure to submit your works to the right folder that can be found in the group's favourites-section here. Further informations concerning the new feature series can be found in this journal! The current timetable for the next features can be found here.
Not yet a member of the group? Have a look at our
I decided on a new schedule for my features. At the first of each month there will be a "Travel the World" feature, showcasing one location that is worth a visit. At the fifteenth of each month I will publish either a "Themed Feature", with a random topic, or a new issue of my "Fairy Tale Features". Inbetween there might be features for contest winners, but that's nothing regular.
Just watched this great video about posing in photography, a whole two hour workshop with lots of examples for general portraits and wedding shots. All free on youtube.
Merry Christmas to all of you! Christmas Dance
