St. Augustine of Hippo
The world offers so many breathtaking locations and places to see and not everyone is able to visit them in person. With this new feature series I invite you on a journey to discover and enjoy the beauty our planet offers. Let's travel the world!
Torres del Paine National Park, Patagonia, Chile, South America
The Torres del Paine National Park is located in the south of Chile, about 115 km from Puerto Natales, between the Andes Mountains and the Patagonia steppes. It covers 242 hectares of a wild and beautiful landscape.
Visiting the Torres del Paine National Park will take you to a place with dramatic mountains, ancient glaciers, lovely lakes and wild rivers.
With approximately 150 000 visitors per year, Torre del Paine National Park is the most visited park in Chile - and yet you can walk for hours and not meet a single (human) soul.
The park reached fifth place in National Geographic's voting for the 100 most beautiful places of the world and was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve back in 1978.
In the language of the Aonikenk (or Tehuelche) indians "Torres del Paine" means "Towers of the blue sky".
Do you know a wonderful place you would like to share with others? Or are you dreaming of visiting a certain place? Tell me in a comment and we mind encounter it in a next issue.
