St. Augustine of Hippo
The world offers so many breathtaking locations and places to see and not everyone is able to visit them in person. With this new feature series I invite you on a journey to discover and enjoy the beauty our planet offers. Let's travel the world!
Normandy, France, Europe
The Normandy is a region in the northwest of France and covers about 30000 km². It offers a rich patchwork of landscapes, from dramatic cliffs to sandy beaches, nature parks and soft hills, idylic medieval towns, cathedrals and castles.
The Mont Saint Michel: a magical island topped by a gravity-defying medieval monastery set in the mesmerising bay where Normandy and Brittany merge.
The future of Europe was at a stake here on 6th June 1944 when the Allies landed to fight against the nazi regime. Today, several historic sites and museums document the tragic and heroic but most of all important history of the d-day.
Normandy offers historic towns such as Rouen, the birth town of William the Conquerer, where Richard the Lionheart was crowned Duke of Normandy and where Jeanne d'Arc finally lost her battle against the english occupants, but also idyllic places like Giverny, where Monet found his inspiration.
Six UNESCO World Heritage sites and UNESCO-listed tradition as well as several villages listed as "Plus beaux villages the France" (most beautiful villages of France) speak of the beauty this landscape has to offer.
Do you know a wonderful place you would like to share with others? Or are you dreaming of visiting a certain place? Tell me in a comment and we mind encounter it in a next issue.
