St. Augustine of Hippo
The world offers so many breathtaking locations and places to see and not everyone is able to visit them in person. With this new feature series I invite you on a journey to discover and enjoy the beauty our planet offers. Let's travel the world!
Rügen, Baltic Sea, Mecklenburg - Western Pomerania, Germany
The island of Rügen (Rugia) is Germany's largest island (about 975km²) and one of the main tourism destinations. It is popular for both natives and foreigners.
Despite being an island, Rügen offers various landscape forms: different types of beaches, chalk cliffs, beech forests, fens, agriculture. Several parks and reservations ensure the preservation of the natural heritage.
The cities and villages of Rügen are famous for their architecture, the so-called spa style. Every town is less than ten kilometres apart from the coast.
While the peak tourist season is clearly the summer, winter can has it's own magic.
Feel free to share your own or favourite deviations from this location in the comments! I would be thrilled to see more of this beautiful place.
